Accommodations

The Maine Coast offers a choice of accommodations. In the more developed areas such as Bar Harbor, you can find chains and resorts. In the smaller coastal towns such as Castine, you will find smaller Inns or you can stay at a Bed and Breakfast.

Reservations are an excellent idea, especially during the busy season.

Tips:

• Determine exactly what you want to do during your stay. Maine is a large state so pick your accommodations based on the activities you want to enjoy.
• Keep in mind that some of the towns are very remote. The nearest shopping center or major medical facility can be an hour or more away.  Bring the things you will need as you may not be able to find them locally.
• If you are travelling with kids, make sure that there are activities at your location that they will enjoy. Again, many of the towns are quaint. Towns like Castine have not seen a lot of change over the last 200 years. For many of us, that is the charm of those locations.
• Bring your passports if you have any intention of driving to Canada or taking one of the Ferries.
