Thunder Hole
Thunder Hole is a rock formation where the incoming waves are forced into a
sort of cave. The result is, that with the right conditions, the impact of the
water creates a thunderous roar and a lot of spray.
Thunder hole is located south of Sand Beach on the park road. Parking is
available in a lot on the right hand side.

Thunder Hole and Walkway from Above.
The walk down involves a fair number of steps, many of which are wet from the
spray. The viewing area is limited so you might need some patience to get some
decent photos or video.

Thunder Hole
Below is a video of Thunder Hole in action. Unfortunately the tide and wind
provided a fairly mellow experience
Tips
- Take care not to get soaked. Ocean waves have a sort of pattern.
- There is a decent amount of parking across the road from Thunder Hole.
- Watch the kids. The fencing isn't that effective. We saw a couple of
kids about 12 years old or so who were dancing around next to a 25 foot drop
and slipped on the wet rocks. Luckily they didn't go off the edge.
